Weapon: Cryosthesia 77K (Sidearm · Primary · Stasis) · Subclass: Revenant (Stasis Hunter) · Role: Self-freezing primary that shatters its own targets for damage and resource feedback Sandbox: 9.7.0 · Created 2026-06-16
A primary sidearm that makes its own crowd control. Get a kill, swap to LN2 mode, and the next charged shot freezes the target — then you shatter it with the same gun for a damage burst, and the catalyst refills the mag off the shatter. The whole loop lives inside one weapon. Mask of Bakris stacks a Stasis damage buff on top and refunds your class ability on the freeze-kill, so the Bakris shift, the freeze, and the shatter all pay each other back. No Champion intrinsic — this is an add-clear/control gun, so the loadout buys champion coverage in the other two slots.
The weapon
Intrinsic — LN2 Burst:[Alternate Weapon Action] : Swap firing mode after a final blow to enable a charged shot.
Catalyst — Cold Efficiency:Shattering a frozen target refills this weapon's magazine from reserves.
Cryosthesia is a 260 RPM Stasis primary sidearm. Land a final blow → press [Alternate Weapon Action] to enter LN2 mode → the next shot is a charged Stasis burst that freezes the target it hits (and clips nearby targets). That charged shot consumes a chunk of the mag. Then you shatter the frozen target — with this same gun's normal rounds, a melee, or any source — and the catalyst refunds the spent mag from reserves. So the cost of freezing is paid back the instant you cash the freeze in. It's a primary, so ammo is effectively unlimited; the only gating resource is "do I have a kill to arm LN2," which a Stasis add-clear subclass supplies constantly.

Why
Subclass
Revenant (Stasis Hunter)
Freeze/shatter is the whole identity; supplies the kills that arm LN2 and the shatter sources the catalyst wants.
Super
Silence and Squall
Two Stasis kamas — Silence freezes a pack, Squall is a roaming storm. Free freezes to shatter, and the freeze keeps Bakris/Hedrons buffs live.
Class ability
Gambler's Dodge (Marksman's if you want the reload)
Bakris converts Dodge into the cloaking shift that arms the Stasis weapon buff; Gambler's near enemies for melee back.
Movement
Triple Jump
Air control to line up the next LN2 charged shot / Shatterdive.
Melee
Withering Blade
Stasis shuriken — slows, and shatters frozen targets to trigger the catalyst when you don't want to spend a charged shot.
Grenade
Duskfield Grenade
With Touch of Winter it drops a crystal and a wider slow field — easy freeze fuel and a crystal to shatter for Whisper of Shards grenade regen.
Aspect 1
Touch of Winter
Enhances Duskfield/Glacier/Coldsnap — your Duskfield seeds a Stasis crystal on cast, manufacturing freezes and shatter targets for free.
Aspect 2
Grim Harvest(or Shatterdive)
Frozen/slowed kills drop Stasis shards → picking them up grants Frost Armor (DR) and feeds Whisper of Bonds/Conduction. Shatterdive if you want an on-demand AoE shatter button.
Fragments
Whisper of Rending, Whisper of Fissures, Whisper of Bonds, Whisper of Hedrons, Whisper of Conduction
See below — Rending is the single most important line for this gun.
Exotic armour
Mask of Bakris (Helmet)
Stacking Stasis weapon damage buff after the shift; freeze-buffed final blows refund class ability energy → the dodge that re-arms the buff.
Weapon 2
No Time to Explain (Stasis Pulse)
Precision/combatant shots return to the mag vs Stasis-slowed/frozen targets — Cryosthesia freezes, NTTE never reloads. Its portal turret adds shatter pressure.
Weapon 3 (Heavy)
Conditional Finality (Stasis/Solar Shotgun)
Its Stasis barrel freezes on hit (more shatter fuel) and it stuns Unstoppable — the build's champion answer. Swap to a Machine Gun for raw DPS if you don't need the stun.
Fragments (5):
Whisper of Rending — primary-ammo weapons do increased damage to Stasis crystals and frozen targets. Cryosthesia is a primary; every shatter shot and every follow-up into a frozen body is buffed. This is the keystone line.
Whisper of Fissures — bigger, harder-hitting shatter burst. Turns each freeze-kill into AoE.
Whisper of Bonds — frozen kills generate Orbs of Power → feeds Bakris (Orbs aren't required for Bakris, but the orb economy powers your mods/Super).
Whisper of Hedrons — freezing a target grants weapon handling + health; keeps Cryosthesia snappy and tops you up on every charged shot.
Whisper of Conduction — pulls nearby Stasis shards to you so Grim Harvest's Frost Armor and Bonds' orbs actually reach your hands in a fight.
Why this works (the mechanics)
The freeze→shatter→reload loop is self-contained. Kill → LN2 charged shot freezes → shatter the frozen target → Cold Efficiency refunds the mag. You spend mag to freeze and get it straight back by cashing the freeze. The gun pays for its own crowd control.
Mask of Bakris is the iconic Stasis-weapon multiplier.Light Shift needs a Stasis (or Arc) Super equipped — Silence and Squall qualifies. After the shift, Stasis weapons gain a stacking damage bonus, and final blows with that bonus active refund class ability energy. Cryosthesia is Stasis, so the shift buffs it directly, and your freeze-kills refund the dodge → re-arm the shift → keep the buff rolling. The class-ability loop is the engine.
Whisper of Rending double-dips the shatter. Rending buffs primary-ammo weapon damage vs frozen targets and crystals — Cryosthesia is a primary sidearm, so both the shatter trigger and any clean-up rounds into the frozen body land at increased damage. Stack it with Fissures' bigger burst and one charged shot deletes a cluster.
Touch of Winter manufactures shatter targets on demand. The enhanced Duskfield seeds a Stasis crystal on cast — Rending nukes crystals too, so even with no kill queued you can throw a Duskfield, shoot the crystal for a buffed shatter, and proc Whisper of Shards-style grenade regen / Bonds orbs.
Frost Armor is free DR layered under the offence. Grim Harvest converts the shards your freeze-kills drop into Frost Armor; Hedrons tops health on freeze; Whisper of Rime (optional swap) extends its duration and raises the stack cap. You tank while you freeze-lock the room.
Champion coverage is bought, not intrinsic. Cryosthesia carries no champion stun (it's an add-clear/control exotic). Conditional Finality's intrinsic Unstoppable stun covers one lane; freeze itself stops Overload regen and pins Barrier behaviour while you reposition. Slot a Barrier/Overload frame in the Heavy or sub NTTE for an Overload pulse if the activity demands the third lane.
Stats & mods
Weapons 200 → Class 100+ → Health. Weapons stat is pure PvE damage vs minors/majors stacked on top of Bakris + Rending; Class feeds the dodge that arms the Bakris shift; Health rides on Frost Armor + Hedrons so it's the dump.
Archetypes: Bakris-class Helmet (Weapons/Class) with Gunner-favoured arms and legs. Mods, by intent:
Helmet: Harmonic/Stasis Siphon (kills → Orbs, feeds Bonds + Super) · Dynamo (Super on dodge — and you dodge constantly for Bakris).
Class item: Powerful Attraction (dodge vacuums the shards/orbs Conduction is already pulling) · Bomber/Outreach for ability uptime.
Stat tuning: +Weapons/−Health and +Class/−Health — dump Health, it's covered by Frost Armor + Hedrons.
Where it shines
Add-dense PvE — Vanguard Ops, Nightfalls, GMs, seasonal activities. Freeze a cluster, shatter it with a Rending-buffed charged shot, mag refunds, repeat. It's a control primary that also clears.
Champion coverage: Conditional Finality intrinsically stuns Unstoppable; freeze halts Overload regen and pins Barrier behaviour for a reposition. No native stun on Cryosthesia — the other two slots and the freeze carry it.
PvP duelling (off-meta but real): the charged shot is a one-tap-to-freeze setup → guaranteed follow-up kill, and Bakris shift cloaks the engage. The catalyst/loop matters less here; the freeze is the value.
Weakest in: single-target boss DPS — it's a primary control gun, not a DPS tool. Let Conditional Finality / a Heavy do the boss work; Cryosthesia handles the room.
