Weapon: Final Warning (Sidearm · Special · Strand) · Subclass: Strand (Threadrunner) · Role: Mark-and-unravel ad-clear + champion/major shredder Sandbox: 9.7.0 · Created 2026-06-16
Hold the trigger to paint a whole pack, release for a tracking burst that unravels everything marked — then the unravel chips, the kills drop Threadlings and Tangles, and the Threadlings unravel again. Final Warning is the one sidearm that hands you a Strand verb for free, so the whole build is built to recycle that unravel into more unravel. Swarmers turns every kill into a self-feeding Threadling that re-applies the debuff the gun already started.
The weapon
All at Once (intrinsic):"Holding down the trigger marks targets within range and loads multiple bullets, which fire in a burst with increased stability on trigger release. Hitting a marked target with a fully charged burst will unravel them."
Catalyst — String Theory:"Hits against marked targets deal increased damage and have a chance to refund ammo to the magazine."
Hold to mark (it tracks marked targets like a soft-lock), release for a stable burst. A fully charged burst on a marked target unravels it — Strand's chip-damage debuff that spreads to nearby combatants and stacks under any weapon perk for the fireteam. The catalyst makes marked hits hit harder and refunds ammo, so a marked pack feeds the mag that kills it — Final Warning self-sustains on its own marks. It's a Special-ammo Strand sidearm; you'll keep it fed off Special bricks and the catalyst refund.

Why
Subclass
Strand (Threadrunner)
The gun's unravel is a Strand verb; everything below recycles it.
Super
Silkstrike (rope dart)
On-theme roaming Super; grapple-dash mobility to reposition between marks.
Class ability
Marksman's Dodge
Reloads Final Warning on dodge — top the mag between bursts.
Melee
Threaded Spike (Threaded Spear)
Returns melee energy on catch; detonates/retrieves Tangles with Whirling Maelstrom.
Grenade
Threadling Grenade
Direct Threadling source on demand — with Swarmers each one unravels.
Aspect 1
Whirling Maelstrom
Destroy a Tangle → a writhing Strand mass that seeks targets and emits Unraveling projectiles on its kills.
Aspect 2
Widow's Silk
Second grenade charge (double the Threadling supply) + Grapple makes a Grapple Tangle — free Tangle for Maelstrom/Swarmers.
Exotic armour
Swarmers (Legs) — "Threadlings spawn from Tangles and unravel targets."
The keystone. See below.
Kinetic/Energy
A Strand primary (Allied Unraveling roll ideal)
Surge-matched element; keeps unravel up between bursts and feeds Strand Siphon.
Heavy
Strand or Kinetic Machine Gun / GL
Boss/Heavy-ammo damage the sidearm isn't built for.
Fragments (4–5)
Thread of Continuityunravel/sever/suspend last longer — the unravel the gun applies persists across a whole pack
Thread of Generationdealing damage → grenade energy → more Threadling Grenades
Thread of RebirthStrand weapon final blows have a chance to make a Threadling
Thread of WardingOrb pickup → Woven Mail for DR
Thread of Ascent (grenade activation reloads + airborne handling, +10 Weapons) if you want the extra reload and damage**
Why this works (the mechanics)
The gun manufactures the debuff the subclass wants. Final Warning's whole reason to exist is "free unravel on a marked pack." Every Strand Hunter build normally spends an aspect or melee to apply unravel; here the trigger does it. That frees the kit to do nothing but multiply and recycle unravel.
Swarmers is the multiplier — Threadlings unravel. Kills off an unravelled pack (and your Threadling Grenade, and Thread of Rebirth) spawn Tangles and Threadlings; Swarmers makes Tangle-born Threadlings unravel the next target. So: gun unravels → kill → Threadling → it unravels a fresh target the gun hasn't marked yet. The debuff outruns your trigger finger.
Whirling Maelstrom closes the Tangle loop. Destroy a Tangle (Threaded Spike detonates them; Grapple makes one via Widow's Silk; kills drop them) → the Maelstrom seeks targets and emits Unraveling projectiles on its kills. That's a third independent unravel source roaming the room while you reload.
The catalyst makes the gun self-feed. String Theory: marked hits deal more damage and chance-refund ammo. A marked major eats a buffed burst and tops your mag — Final Warning is a Special weapon that frequently pays its own ammo on the targets that matter.
Weapons stat double-dips on the same kills (9.7.0). Weapons increases weapon damage vs minors/majors and reload/handling. Thread of Ascent (+10 Weapons) plus high Weapons gear adds PvE damage on top of unravel chip and the catalyst's marked-hit bonus — three damage sources from one burst.
Continuity is the glue. Thread of Continuity stretches every unravel so a single marked burst keeps a whole pack debuffed long enough for Threadlings + Maelstrom to clean up — the debuff is persistent, not per-shot.
Stats & mods
Weapons 100+ → Health 100 → Grenade ~100 (Threadling supply) → Class. The build leans on weapon damage + unravel chip, so Weapons is the lead stat; Grenade funds the second Widow's Silk Threadling charge; Health/Woven Mail (Thread of Warding) covers survivability.
Mods, by piece:
Helmet:Strand Siphon (Strand kills → Orbs — you make a flood) · Ashes to Assets / Heavy Handed for ability return.
Gauntlets:Strand Loader + Grenade Font (→ Threadling Grenade uptime).
Chest: Resist mods (Strand/Arc/Solar) under Woven Mail.
Legs (Swarmers):Strand Surge ×2 (≈+17% Strand weapon damage straight onto Final Warning + your Strand primary) · Special Finisher (refill Special on finisher — keeps the sidearm fed) · Strand Scavenger.
Champions (Anti-Champion 2.0): Final Warning is a Lightweight/Rapid-Fire sidearm archetype, so its intrinsic stun is Overload — confirm against artifact/weapon archetype in-game (see Verify). Cover Barrier/Unstoppable via your Strand primary's frame and seasonal anti-champ artifact mods. Suspend (Silkstrike, Shackle if subbed) hard-stops Overload behaviour and elites regardless; unravel thins champion health for the team.
Where it shines
Ad-dense PvE (GMs, Legend/Master, Onslaught, dungeons): hold-to-mark + burst is a literal AoE-debuff button; Swarmers + Maelstrom turn each kill into more unravel, so dense rooms collapse on themselves. This is the build's home.
Champions/majors: the catalyst's marked-hit damage + Weapons stat + unravel chip delete orange bars in a burst or two; Overload handled intrinsically, Suspend for everything else.
PvP (bonus): All at Once's tracking burst + Cyrtarachne swap (below) is a strong duelling/lane sidearm, but this doc is tuned for PvE ad-clear.
