Centerpiece: Izanagi's Burden (Sniper Rifle · Special · Kinetic) · Subclass: Revenant (Stasis) · Role: Boss/miniboss single-shot burst-DPS with a self-loading holster Sandbox: 9.7.0 · Updated 2026-07-03

Consume the whole magazine into one fat round, draw, and delete. Izanagi's is the original charge-up sniper — a four-stack Honed Edge shot is the single biggest trigger-pull of any Special weapon in the game. The build's only job is to feed that one shot: freeze the priority target to pin and debuff it, draw Izanagi for Sealed Ahamkara's fresh-draw damage bonus, fire, and let the exotic auto-reload the consumed magazine from the holster while you clean up. Snipe, freeze, snipe.

The weapon

Honed Edge (intrinsic): "[Alternate Weapon Action] : Consume the magazine and load a round with additional range and damage."

Catalyst — Peerless Edge: "Increases the damage bonus of Honed Edge when four bullets are consumed."

Hold reload to consume the magazine; each consumed bullet ramps the loaded round one stack (Honed Edge x1→x4). At x4 — only worth reaching once the catalyst's Peerless Edge boost is installed — you fire a single Kinetic Special round with a huge damage multiplier: Clarity puts a masterworked, catalysed x4 shot at roughly +165% bodyshot / +389% crit damage, the highest single-trigger-pull spike of any Special weapon. That is the whole fantasy: one held reload, one draw, one shot that erases a miniboss or takes a boss's health bar off in a burst window. Everything else in the kit exists to reload that consumed magazine for you and to pin the target still long enough to land the crit.

Loadout

SlotPickWhy
SubclassRevenant (Stasis)Freeze pins the priority target still for the charged crit and slow/freeze is the anti-Overload verb; feeds Whisper of Hedrons handling.
SuperSilence and SquallOff-element burst when the sniper's on cooldown; the Squall storm also freezes/slows to tee up the next Honed Edge shot.
Class abilityGambler's DodgeReloads on dodge (a redundant Izanagi top-up) and refunds melee energy near enemies for more freeze.
MovementHigh JumpExtra vertical to reach a sniping perch and reposition between charge windows.
MeleeWithering BladeRicocheting Stasis shuriken — slows/freezes a priority target before the draw and is a powered melee for Nightmare Fuel.
GrenadeDuskfield GrenadeThe freeze engine; with Touch of Winter it pulls the pack in and freezes a cluster for the snipe.
Aspect 1Touch of WinterEnhanced Duskfield — larger slow-field whose pull clusters the pack, plus a crystal on impact; reliable freeze setup for the Honed Edge target.
Aspect 2Grim HarvestPicking up Stasis shards grants Frost Armor (DR while scoped and exposed); while it's up, Stasis/Kinetic kills may shatter for add-clear.
FragmentsWhisper of Hedrons · Whisper of Rending · Whisper of Fissures · Whisper of ConductionHedrons is the keystone — freeze grants weapon handling, making the slow ADS/charge feel fast on the very target you froze.
Exotic armourSealed Ahamkara Grasps (Gauntlets)Refills the consumed Izanagi magazine from the holster and stacks a fresh-draw damage buff onto the Honed Edge shot — the perfect enabler.
WeaponsStasis primary (energy) + Machine Gun / Rocket (heavy)The primary drives Whisper of Rending bonus damage to frozen targets and clears between snipes; heavy is sustained DPS for what one shot can't finish.

Why it works (the mechanics)

Stats & mods

Weapons 200 → Health → Class. Weapons is the priority — it raises PvE weapon damage vs minors/majors on top of Honed Edge, and the build lives and dies on the sniper. Health is the survivability floor while scoped; Class feeds Gambler's Dodge (reload + melee refund). The archetype lean is a Weapons-primary Hunter with a Health secondary.

Mods:

Artifact — Slayer Baron Apothecary Satchel

The Stasis artifact, tuned to this Revenant freeze loop — it amplifies Frost Armor and Stasis Shard generation so Grim Harvest's survivability runs itself while Honed Edge does the killing. Every pick goes to the freeze/shard economy plus the ice-shatter add-clear.
