Centerpiece: The Navigator (Trace Rifle · Special · Strand) · Subclass: Strand (Threadrunner) · Role: Team Woven Mail battery + self-sustaining add-clear Sandbox: 9.7.0 · Updated 2026-07-03

A support gun that pays you to keep your team alive. Spray an ally and both of you get Woven Mail, and The Navigator deals more damage because you're wearing it — so the selfless act is also the selfish one. Build the whole kit around never letting Woven Mail drop: Grapple grants it, orbs grant it, and the gun grants it to the whole fireteam. Then make Tangles for free and spit Strand masses out of the corpses. Low-effort, high-uptime, never-not-buffed.

The weapon

Protective Weave (intrinsic, verbatim): "Firing this weapon at an ally grants Woven Mail to both the user and the target. Deals more damage while you have Woven Mail."

Gordian Knot (catalyst, verbatim): "Special reload and then fire to create a Grapple Tangle at the targeted point."

What it does: The Navigator is a Strand Special-ammo Trace Rifle firing at 1000 RPM. Hosing an ally (or letting your reticle drift onto one) drapes Woven Mail over both of you, and the gun gains a personal damage buff the entire time you have Woven Mail — which, in this build, is always. The catalyst turns it into a Tangle factory: special-reload, fire, and a Grapple Tangle drops where you aim — free fuel for every Tangle-consuming aspect and fragment on the kit and a free reposition for you. It is a utility Special, not a DPS centrepiece: the value is the fireteam-wide damage reduction and the endless Tangle supply, not raw damage numbers.

SubclassStrand (Threadrunner)Native Woven Mail + Tangle + Threadling economy — every Navigator interaction is Strand.
SuperSilkstrikeRoaming Strand whip; clears the rooms The Navigator buffs the team to push into.
Class abilityMarksman's DodgeInstant reload of The Navigator between buff-sprays; no animation dead time.
MovementTriple JumpAir control to line up grapple swings and keep the reticle on allies mid-fight.
MeleeThreaded SpikeBouncing boomerang melee — chains targets, returns melee energy, generates Tangles to feed the loop.
GrenadeGrappleThe keystone: Grapple → Woven Mail (Cyrtarachne) → Grapple Tangle (Widow's Silk) → mobility + Tangle fuel.
Aspect 1Widow's SilkExtra grenade charge, and Grapple creates a Grapple Tangle — doubles Grapple uptime and makes the Tangle economy free.
Aspect 2Whirling MaelstromDestroying a Tangle weaves a Strand mass that shreds the pack and emits Unraveling projectiles — turns Tangle surplus into autonomous add-clear.
FragmentsWarding · Transmutation · Generation · FuryA third Woven Mail source, kill-fed Tangles, faster Grapple, and Tangle-to-melee recycling.
Exotic armourCyrtarachne's Facade (Helmet)Grapple → Woven Mail on demand, and upgrades the Mail itself with flinch resistance + health on kills — the beam-gun's ideal partner.
WeaponsStrand Primary + Euphony (Heavy)Primary carries champion stun and ammo economy; Euphony is your on-element boss DPS while The Navigator plays support.

Why it works (the mechanics)

Stats & mods

Class 200 → Weapons → Grenade. Class feeds Marksman's Dodge (free Navigator reloads) and dodge cooldown; Weapons stacks PvE damage on top of Protective Weave's clause; Grenade speeds Grapple; Health is the dump stat because Woven Mail plus Cyrtarachne healing already cover survivability. Lean into a Class-primary / Grenade-secondary archetype roll.

Mods:

Artifact — Implement of Curiosity

The Strand artifact that fits a Threadrunner top-to-bottom: it turns this build's Tangle surplus, Unravel, and permanent Woven Mail into more economy and damage, and Elemental Daze finally hands the build the champion stun The Navigator can't carry.
