Weapon: Winterbite (Glaive · Heavy · Stasis) · Subclass: Revenant (Stasis) · Role: Unstoppable-stunning freeze cannon + heavy-slot add control Sandbox: 9.7.0 · Created 2026-06-16
A Heavy Glaive that throws its melee: the projectile is a slow homing snowball that locks on and freezes whatever it touches, and — uniquely — carries an intrinsic Unstoppable stun. Mask of Bakris turns Winterbite's own element into a stacking damage buff and refunds your dodge off the kills, so the loop is shift → fire frozen ball → shatter for the room → dodge back → repeat. The Glaive shield covers the gap a Heavy-ammo melee weapon would normally leave.
The weapon
Big Frigid Glaive (intrinsic, verbatim):"Fires a large ball of energy that locks onto nearby targets and freezes them. Strong against [Stagger] Unstoppable Champions."
Catalyst — Rimestealer (verbatim):"Destroying a Stasis crystal or defeating a frozen target with this weapon grants you Frost Armor."
So Winterbite isn't a projectile spammer — it's a Heavy-ammo freeze delivery system. The energy ball homes, freezes on contact (groups too, via the AoE lock), and the weapon natively stuns Unstoppable without any seasonal mod. The catalyst closes the survivability loop: every frozen kill or crystal you pop with Winterbite layers Frost Armor (stacking ~35% DR at 5 stacks, 9.7.0). Because it's a Glaive you also get a held shield for the reload window, which is what makes a one-shot-then-reload Heavy weapon playable up close.

Why
Subclass
Revenant (Stasis Hunter)
Native freeze/shatter/Frost Armor — every verb Winterbite makes is a build input.
Super
Silence and Squall
Two casts: freeze the pack, then the storm shatters them — a free room-wide freeze to feed Winterbite/shatter.
Class ability
Gambler's Dodge
Mask of Bakris converts it to a cloaked Shift; Stasis-kill refunds bring it back fast.
Movement
Triple Jump
Air control to line up Shatterdive on frozen clumps.
Melee
Withering Blade (Shuriken)
Slows on hit — pre-slows targets so Winterbite's freeze is instant; cheap Stasis-shard fuel.
Grenade
Duskfield Grenade
Slow field → mass-freeze setup for the Glaive ball; pairs with Touch of Winter's pull.
Aspect 1
Touch of Winter
Bigger Duskfield (larger slow-field + a crystal on impact); the wider field's pull clusters targets → frozen cluster for one Winterbite ball to shatter.
Aspect 2
Grim Harvest
Slowed/frozen kills drop Stasis shards; picking them up grants Frost Armor, and while it's up Stasis/Kinetic kills may shatter for AoE (9.7.0). DR + shatter layer, not an energy source.
Fragments
Whisper of Rime (Frost Armor duration/stacks), Whisper of Fissures (+shatter burst dmg/size), Whisper of Chains (DR near frozen/crystals), Whisper of Refraction (slowed/frozen kills → class energy)
Survivability + the shatter-damage spike + class-ability economy.
Exotic armour
Mask of Bakris (Helmet)
Dodge → cloaked Shift; afterward Stasis weapons gain a stacking damage bonus, and final blows with it active refund class ability energy. Directly buffs Winterbite and self-funds the Shift loop.
Energy weapon
Stasis Primary (e.g. an auto/pulse with Headstone or Hailstone)
Makes crystals for Winterbite/Diamond shatter, builds Frost Armor, keeps surge matched.
Kinetic/other
Whatever covers Barrier/Overload
Winterbite owns Unstoppable; bring a frame for the other two champion types.
Why this works (the mechanics)
The exotic buffs the exotic weapon's element directly. Mask of Bakris: after a Shift, "your Stasis and Arc weapons gain a stacking damage bonus." Winterbite is Stasis — so the gauntlet you'd run for the dodge-shift is also a flat damage multiplier on the Glaive itself. No other exotic does both jobs.
The Shift loop self-funds. Bakris: "Final blows with this bonus active refund class ability energy." Winterbite freezes → you shatter → frozen kill → dodge comes back → Shift again to refresh the Stasis damage stacks. The buff that powers the weapon is paid for by the weapon's own kills.
Frost Armor stacks from two engines at once. Rimestealer catalyst (frozen kill / crystal pop with Winterbite) layers it directly, and Grim Harvest stacks it every time you pick up the Stasis shards your slowed/frozen kills drop — Whisper of Rime extends duration and raises the cap so it stays near-full. At ~35% DR (5 stacks) a Heavy-melee weapon that gets you close is actually survivable.
Unstoppable is intrinsic — no mod tax. Anti-Champion 2.0 makes stun an archetype/exotic property; Winterbite carries its own Unstoppable stun, so you spend zero artifact mods on it and a frozen Unstoppable is double-stunned.
Freeze → shatter is the AoE. One homing ball freezes a Touch-of-Winter clump; Whisper of Fissures makes the shatter burst hit harder and wider, and Shatterdive/Silence-and-Squall convert that frozen pack into a chain of shatters — the Heavy ammo goes a long way per shot.
The Glaive shield covers the Heavy-weapon flaw. A 1-2 round mag on a Heavy melee weapon would be suicidal; holding block during the reload, plus standing Frost Armor, lets you brawl in the freeze range the ball wants.
Stats & mods
Weapons 200 → Class 100+ → Health (Frost Armor backstops it). Weapons stat boosts Winterbite's PvE damage on top of the Bakris stack; Class ~100+ keeps the Shift (your damage-buff and your escape) on a short leash, and Refraction + Bakris refunds top it up.
Helmet (Bakris): Stasis/Kinetic siphon (crystals + Orbs), Ashes to Assets.
Gauntlets: Heavy Ammo Finder/Scavenger (Winterbite is Heavy — reserves matter), Melee Font if you lean on Withering Blade.
Chest: Resist mods under the Frost Armor layer.
Boots:Stasis Weapon Surge ×2 (straight onto Winterbite, stacks with Bakris), Stasis Scavenger, Orbs of Restoration.
Class item: Powerful Attraction (Shift vacuums shards/orbs), Reaper.
Stat tuning: +Weapons / −Health — Frost Armor + Chains make Health the cheapest dump.
Where it shines
GM / -30/-40 endgame: intrinsic Unstoppable stun + freeze-CC + ~35% Frost Armor DR is exactly the toolkit hard content rewards; Winterbite is one of the few Heavy options that is also a champion stunner and a hard-CC tool.
Champion coverage:Unstoppable — Winterbite, intrinsic. Barrier and Overload are not covered by this loadout; carry an Energy/Kinetic frame for those two (e.g. an anti-Barrier and anti-Overload archetype) — flagged.
Add-dense rooms: Touch-of-Winter Duskfield pull → one ball freezes the clump → Fissures shatter clears it; great for boss-room ad management while you swap to a DPS gun.
Solo: the Frost Armor + freeze + cloaked Shift triad is forgiving when there's no team to peel for you.
